How I Ended 2013 & Started 2014

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

(A month not writing huh?)

During the last 2 weeks of 2013, I went to a place full of barakah in Sungai Udang, Melaka. To be more specific, a sekolah 'pondok'. Alhamdulillah, the experience was overwhelming. The people, the environment, the serenity that I felt there, they were all incomparable to things that I have in my real life (I mean, at home & college).

Even though I was somehow introduced to learning kitab using the method of 'talaqi' with ustaz in KMS, the 'bertalaqi' mood in Baitul Qurro' was more authentic you see? Especially when it comes to Ustaz Shauqi's kuliyahs. The most important aspect that he highlighted on was to have 'adab with the teachers in class as what the teachers teach is always the knowledge that comes from Allah and it is highly advisable for the learners to respect every word that the teachers convey. But not only in class, teachers are to be respected at all times. For the keberkatan ilmu, of course & Allah's blessing in noble thing that we're doing - learning for His sake, only.

We learnt fiqh, da'wah and tauhid there - mengkhatamkan ketiga-tiga kitab tersebut dalam tempoh 2 minggu.

Although it was a little tiring -  having to rush to classes, juggling with the duty of preparing food & prayer time -  Allah made everything easy for each and every one of us. After all, that is the place where the word 'Allah' has countless times been engraved in its sky, what do you expect?

Allah has spread His love to that place and I really hope that He also loves the people who have been there even for a split second, as well as the people who join the daurah each year (yes, including us, of course).

Another thing that I love about that pondok is the tradition of eating in the talam while sitting on the floor following Rasulullah's style - people call it 'duduk sunnah'. We had to share the meal with 6/7 other girls (if you're a boy, then they're going to be boys) in one talam. CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT? Even though it seemed like the meals were always not enough for 8 stomachs to share, I seldom felt hungry. Talking about barakah, aye? Nothing beats His mercy :')

And oh yes, Ain Syafiqah, Aien and me were among the girls who had to sleep in a room with 9 other people and that made 12 of us in a single bedroom at the same time. Fuh! For 2 weeks, we had to sacrifice our comfortable beds and every mean of comfort to do jihad fisabilillah, insyaAllah. And yet, we didn't feel budged about these petty things. Alhamdulillah, He granted us patience to wade through the challenges that came in our way.

There are some other things that make the pondok even more special but allow me to keep the rest of the story in my heart, okay? ;)

2nd January of 2014 marked the 3rd time of failing the driving test for me. Yes, the 3rd time. There's no such thing as calamity if we put everything in the hands of God. He knows best that He would never have the heart to burden us with things that we could not endure.

He taught me to be patient with these tests in the beginning of a new year (according to the Masihi calendar). Alhamdulillah :D

P/S- I will be starting my 2nd semester on Monday, 5th January, but I'll go back to college tomorrow. Bismillahitawakkal tu'alallah. I would like to be better in everything and I really hope that Allah will make my hopes come true.
