Wandering Mind
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
(Fuuuuhhh. It's really been a while, ey?)
While being aware that the final exam shall begin next Wednesday, my mind still cunningly finds a way to drag me to view pictures of beautiful places, asking me to have a visit to my memories and simply makes me long to enjoy another break, again and again. Now that the class has ended (hooray!), I'm left with my wandering mind that has sooo many things to think of and has 1001 ways to keep me procrastinating - this is just horrible.
It isn't surprising to receive comments from people who might say that 'budak-budak yang study luar negara ni takde kerja selain berjalan ke?'. I myself have had the same thoughts too. (Am still having them though.) I admit that it's our fault too, simply 'showing off' our holidays to European countries which seem too good to be true. People might be annoyed too yknow? With the spams, the unnecessary captions etc etc.
But looking at the other side of the story, living in this modernity where people have easy access to sharing sites and you're literally a click away from telling people of your stories and experiences, you simply can't help but to share the fun as well, no? It seems incomplete not to let people know of stuff you did, places you went, food you ate, people you saw during last winter or spring break - ahah! When others keep on updating their social sites, it'll be rather lame not to follow the trend, you might think.
I don't say that it is totally wrong, annoying people with your loads of pictures. In fact, I am in a constant battle with myself of 'to-post-or-not-to-post'. I am the type of person who has whispers in the head that somehow urge me to let them out in any forms of writing/recording. So you can imagine how difficult it is for me to restrain myself from unnecessary updates and simply have a day gap to post things online. The struggle is real, man!
The battle becomes even more challenging since you don't have people to share your thoughts with. This sounds like a made-up excuse but somehow it contributes to the attention that we try to seek from the virtual relationship as well, I daresay. Plus, you are less busy with 'responsibilities' of keeping in touch with your family, doing the chores like how things used to be when you're at your real home, Malaysia.
Truly, the 'like' and 'share' buttons are the ghosts of this modern day which I pray that they will stay away from my life, nauzubillahiminzalik.
That's why it's dangerous to let your mind wander without knowing its limits yes? It can go on and on and on and you might lose it to the world's deceitful pleasures.
